About the Book
General Speaking is a practical textbook designed for first-semester university students who seek to develop their English-speaking competence in a gradual, structured, and confidence-building manner. The book integrates essential components of spoken communication, including pronunciation, everyday communication, functional expressions, role-plays, and speaking projects, through engaging and accessible learning activities.
Adopting a systematic and practice-oriented approach, the book encourages students to use English actively and meaningfully in a variety of communicative situations. The materials are designed not only to enhance linguistic accuracy and fluency, but also to strengthen confidence, interactional competence, and effective communication. General Speaking therefore serves as a practical learning resource for students who wish to communicate more effectively in both academic settings and everyday contexts.
